The Basic Worksheet Program
The Basic Worksheet Program features include:
- Over 2000 worksheets provide a remarkable learning resource of outstanding quality. These worksheets are linked through a cross-reference tool.
- Each child can be presented with a learning plan that matches their present needs. We now have the resources to teach each student at their own stage of development rather than the stage dictated by the class
- Parents and teachers will be able to view and print any of the worksheets. More >
- Thousands of cartoons provide motivation and instruction.
- The teacher can decide the order of lessons rather than leaving that decision to a textbook.
- 105 diagnostic tests identify every gap in each student’s knowledge. Clear directions are given for the filling of each gap.
The program allows for careful progress in the development of skills and knowledge. Progress tests review work taught. - Record sheets are provided for each test so that remediation and follow-up can be managed easily.
- A student having difficulty understanding a concept will have access to all previous work in that area at any level, from the simplest of concepts to the more difficult.
- More able students are provided with extension pages and the challenge of a wealth of questions designed to develop the ability to work mathematically.< Less
The Maths Builder Program
- The Maths Builder Program contains all elements of the Basic Worksheet Program.
- The Maths Builder resources provide a remarkable capacity to create lessons able to motivate and instruct at the highest level. More >< Less
The way Maths Builder resources are organised and presented is integral to the effectiveness of the program.
Teachers can select resources from the Maths Builder website in a matter of seconds, display them in full-screen mode and project them onto an interactive whiteboard. At the click of a mouse, the teacher or student can move between mathematical strands, skill levels and the thousands of other teaching resources.
This high level of integration and accessibility allows teachers to design their own teaching program and can be used in conjunction with the On Your Mark Maths textbooks which set out a teaching program for each learning level.
Resources related to each worksheet allow teachers to plan their lessons efficiently and help students consolidate, master and enjoy their work. Related resources are immediately accessible beside every worksheet making it quick and easy for teachers to collect material to support effective teaching. Until now, this task has robbed teachers of valuable time.
Maths Builder is only available by annual subscription. This means that subscribers have immediate access to all updated and new material as soon as it is released.
A series of unique, colourful and humorous cartoons give Maths Builder its life and personality, helping to engage and motivate students.
Maps and photographs give the lessons relevance and meaning.
Worksheets form the core of the Maths Builder teaching program. At the click of a mouse, teachers can access worksheets across Levels 0-6, use them to plan and present lessons and with Maths Builder’s easy-to-use navigation, quickly lead students through each skill level.
Each worksheet is supported by a vast array of linked teaching resources (lesson notes, interactive games, language cards, fun and games activities, and many others).
The worksheets are adapted from the On Your Mark Maths series of textbooks and will be updated when the National Curriculum is introduced. Each level represents a one year course in Mathematics. Go to Worksheets >
Consolidation sheets support the worksheets by providing exercises that help students revise and consolidate skills. Go to Consolidation sheets
Extension sheets support the worksheets by providing exercises that allow students to extend their learning and their capacity to reason. Go to Extension sheets
Diagnostic tests help teachers and students to quickly identify the student’s true level of comprehension, then address any weaknesses the student may have. The cross-references attached to the diagnostic test determine each student’s appropriate remedial program. Go to Diagnostic tests
Voice-over allows the user to hear each instruction spoken in English. Non-readers and students who have English as a second language will gain great benefit from this feature. Students who cannot read can answer questions by responding to the spoken instructions.
The Cross-reference tool shows the context in which a lesson is being taught. It indicates the significant worksheets that both precede and follow the current lesson. Using Cross-reference, teachers can quickly review earlier related worksheets for students requiring consolidation or remediation, or can present related worksheets for students requiring acceleration or extension work. Worksheets can then be printed or projected onto a whiteboard. Go to Cross-reference
Language Cards summarise important terms and concepts introduced at every mathematical level. The deeper levels of the Language Card interactives provide a powerful teaching tool for introducing lessons. Go to language cards
The many interactive games motivate students to learn and master essential mathematical skills. The games use fun, variety and repetition to cover worksheet content. Students use the games to master important mathematical concepts as they progress through the program. It is our goal to have an interactive game attached to every worksheet. Within the Maths Builder resources section, the interactive games can be generated for use as worksheets. Go to interactive games
Fun and Games worksheets further consolidate mathematics skills.
These activities are designed to explore mathematical concepts. Go to Fun and games
Maths Builder and the On Your Mark Maths series of textbooks will be rewritten to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum in 2010. Not only that, every page of the On Your Mark Maths textbooks will have a link to the corresponding worksheet in Maths Builder.
Maths Builder is constantly being expanded and refined to improve its effectiveness as a teaching program. Eventually, Maths Builder will support Levels 0-10.
On-line testing, marking and record keeping are being developed and will form part of the diagnostic testing resources. Teachers will be able to store records on-line.
The number of core worksheets will not increase (each level is designed to be taught in a 12-month period). However, new Consolidation and Extension sheets are being created to widen the choice of supporting resources.
Voice-over will be a feature of all worksheets and many of the interactive games. The number of interactive games will increase until there is one for every Worksheet. Other interactive games are in the pipeline to increase the effectiveness of Maths Builder while ensuring students are kept motivated while learning maths.
The international language of mathematics makes it an ideal medium for teaching English as a second language. Although it is often assumed that the learning of mathematics will suffer when it is used as a vehicle for learning English, the unique structure and supporting resources of Maths Builder allow students to realise their potential in both English and Mathematics. The multi-leveled Language Cards, Voice-over and Interactive Games are powerful tools for helping students master mathematical concepts while learning English.
